World Health Day is celebrated annually on April 7, and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people worldwide.
This year’s theme focuses on achieving and improving health for all.
GFL’s Full Circle Project has partnered with several incredible charities that fall under our Cancer and Medical Wellness charity class.
Many families and individuals struggle with the impacts of cancer and other serious medical conditions. Supporting charities that advocate for accessible and inclusive health care helps improve patient care and provides funds for developing technologies and research into cures.
The Children’s Hospital Colorado provides children in the Denver community with care, support and research breakthroughs that help local children thrive.
The facility provides a broad range of services to children and their families, from fixing broken bones to treating critical injuries and illnesses.
GFL’s Full Circle Project donated US $5,000 to Children’s Hospital Colorado.
GFL’s Denver team partnered with this charity as they wanted to gather holiday gifts to give to the children in the hospital.
“This is the largest children’s facility in Denver, and we felt we could positively impact more children during the holiday season,” Carey Calabrese, GFL regional vice president, said. “We wanted to provide presents for children that could not be home during this time or families that didn’t have the means to give gifts for the holidays. Along with the donation, we did a toy drive at our Denver hauling location and filled four 95g carts with presents.”
Hospitals of Regina Foundation/ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
The Hospitals of Regina Foundation provide specialized care to approximately 500 babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Regina General Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan, every year.
Through the Full Circle Project, GFL donated CA $5,000 in 2022 and another $10,000 in 2023 to help the hospital continue their mission of providing neonatal support.
Eleven babies have been born to employees at the Emerald Park, Saskatchewan, branch in the last two years, including one that needed additional neonatal support.
Similar to last year, employees will help set up the Four Seasons Ball, the black-tie signature event that raises funds for pediatric services in Regina.
They will help decorate the main dining area and support the event planner as needed.
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation helps to ensure that the best possible hospital care is available to residents of Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
The charity executes fundraising campaigns to replace and fund new equipment and technology, build new hospital units, develop programs, train staff and directly improve the health of the Island community.
“With the donation from our Full Circle Project our GFL representatives were able to distribute lunch to the staff at the Victoria General Hospital, they were all so appreciative,” Kelsey Young, GFL commercial sales, said.
GFL’s Full Circle Project partnered with this charity by donating CA $5,000 that went towards the Victoria General Hospital Staff Appreciation BBQ.
GFL’s Victoria team helped Island Health Management with serving food and helping with pre-and post-event activities.
