Matrec, a division of GFL Environmental, was proud to receive the Innovation and Environmental Protection Award presented by Le Conseil des entreprises en technologies environnementales du Québec (CETEQ) at the Gala EnviroLys on November 3, 2025.
This year’s awards were presented in Laval, where more than 500 industry representatives attended, along with current and former Québec environment ministers and the new mayor of Montreal.
“We are extremely proud of this recognition,” said Matrec’s Regional Vice President David Gendreau. “This award is the culmination of a collective vision. It is thanks to the commitment, expertise and team spirit of all our employees that we were able to achieve this success.”
Matrec, an associate partner of the Gala EnviroLys, received the Innovation and Environmental Protection Award for the work done by the team at the Montreal-Est (East Montreal) location.
Built in 2022, this environmental complex houses two of the most modern MRFs in North America.
The complex manages waste from multiple sources and is a vibrant ecosystem, where operational excellence, human expertise, industrial synergy and community engagement come together to build a sustainable future.
The recognition highlights Matrec’s continued commitment to environmental responsibility and its role in advancing sustainable practices across Québec.
Congratulations to the Matrec team at Montreal-Est!
