GFL Announced as Finalist for 2017 WCB Safe Employer Award

SASKATOON, Feb.10, 2017 — GFL Environmental Inc. operations in Saskatchewan (formerly Envirotec Services Incorporated) have been selected by the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) as one of three finalists for the 2017 Safe Employer Award.

The WCB Safe Employer Award celebrates the best practices of employers who place top priority on workplace health and safety. Award criteria include reviews of internal safety practices, emergency preparedness and more.

“Our goal of having zero injuries is being successfully achieved thanks to the teamwork and constant efforts of everyone involved in GFL’s health and safety programs,” explains GFL National Health and Safety Director Brian Hillier. “It is an honour to be recognized by the WCB for our ongoing commitment to ensure the health and safety of every worker, sub-contractor, visitor and member of the public whenever we perform our duties.”

Throughout Saskatchewan, GFL provides environmental and industrial services from locations in Saskatoon, Regina and Esterhazy. With over 160 local employees, the company has safely logged thousands of hours performing services ranging from emergency HAZMAT response and environmental remediation to liquid waste management and mining sector support.

The Safe Employer Award winner will be announced at the annual WCB Compensation Institute in Saskatoon on Monday, March 20, 2017.
