GFL recently had the opportunity to support the operations of the Invictus Games, which took place from February 8 to 16 in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia.
Our Squamish team provided a range of waste solutions in Whistler, including portable toilets, accessible toilets, handwashing stations, pumping services for trailers, as well as totes and larger 12-yard bins. As an operational supporter, GFL donated $4,000 worth of waste services to the event.
“The whole event was incredibly heartwarming to be a part of, and our team was thrilled to contribute our services to ensure everything ran smoothly!” said Customer Service Representative Eden Imbeau, who played a key role in leading GFL’s efforts for this event. “Our team carried out their tasks well and followed all safety protocols to a tee.”
Uniting athletes from 23 nations, the Invictus Games celebrate wounded and injured service members and veterans. The Games promote recovery, rehabilitation, and a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by those who serve.
This year, participants showcased their strength and resilience by competing in a variety of adaptive sports, including, for the first time, winter sports such as Alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, biathlon, skeleton, and wheelchair curling.
GFL is proud to have supported the Invictus Games and looks forward to continuing its work with other organizations and world-class events within the Sea to Sky community.
