Construction and Demolition Recycling/Disposal in Florida
GFL offers construction and demolition recycling and disposal throughout Tampa Bay and Central Florida at our various locations. Our Class III Landfill and transfer stations are permitted to recycle, transport, and dispose of a wide range of inert debris products. We accept materials directly at our Class III landfill in Dade City, or at transfer stations located in Largo, Lakeland, Brandon, and Lutz.
Construction and Demolition Debris (C&D)
Construction and demolition debris (C&D) is defined as discarded materials generally considered to be not water soluble and non-hazardous in nature, from the construction or destruction of a structure as part of a construction or demolition project, or from the renovation of a structure, including such debris from construction of structures at a site remote from the construction or demolition project site. This includes scrap from manufacturing facilities, if generated as part of a construction or demolition project.
Acceptable Waste
- Items that comprise a building / structure that are permanent and fixed
- Metals – beams, aluminum, copper, stainless steel
- Brick, concrete, asphalt, stone
- Gypsum wallboard, hardie board
- Plumbing – piping and fixtures
- Roofing and siding materials
- Electrical wires and fixtures (no circuit boards)
- Rocks, soils, tree remains, trees, vegetative matter
- Fencing, decking, marine dock – untreated
- Glass and mirrors – windows/doors, etc.
- Cardboard, paper, plastic, wood, fabric, Styrofoam, fiberglass
- Lumber and pallets
- A/C ducting and insulation
- Flooring materials
- Buckets or containers – dry
- Yard trash or land clearing debris
- Pools
Unacceptable Waste
- Municipal solid waste – household garbage
- Hazardous / toxic wastes
- Medical / infectious wastes
- Industrial wastes
- Electronic wastes – TV, computer, circuit boards, etc.
- Contaminated soils
- Oil, greases, or petroleum-contaminated items
- Sludges or liquids wastes
- Treated wood (CCA) or railroad ties
- Tanks – septic, propane, petroleum, etc.
- Asbestos
- Furniture and mattresses
- Automobiles, bikes, boats
- Chemicals, solvents, cleaners, pesticides
- PCBs – transformers, ballasts
- Fluorescent / mercury bulbs and thermostats
- Batteries
- Appliances, water heaters, air conditioners
- Lead-containing materials
- Dead animals
- 55-gallon drums
- CLIII waste – house clean outs, etc.
- Filters
- White Goods – large home appliances such as stoves, dryers, and washing machines
Class III Disposal
This includes materials approved by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), which are not expected to produce leachate that pose a threat to public health or the environment.

- Furniture and mattresses
- House clean outs – books, clothing, toys (no electronics), dishware, luggage, bikes, storage bins, etc.
- Agricultural waste – limited to plastic containers, piping, irrigation, etc.
- Mobile/manufactured homes (additional fees apply)
- Utility poles (up to 6ft long without barnacles)
- Industrial manufacturing wastes (must be approved by FDEP prior)
- Boats (w/o electronics and motors)
