In the event of inclement weather (such as snow, ice, or high winds) causing unsafe driving or collection conditions, we may need to delay or suspend our services. In the event that your service is delayed, please rest assured that our teams are working as effectively as conditions will allow to serve you.

Weather Service Updates

In the event your service is delayed or cancelled, you can typically find updates for your specific location on our website at https://gflenvincuat.wpengine.com/inclement-weather-alerts/.

Collection Schedule Adjustments

If your scheduled collection is affected by weather, we will make every effort to get your service back on track as soon as conditions safely allow. Often, you will see our messages say one of the following:

  • Service canceled – If service is canceled, we will resume normal service on your next regularly scheduled pickup day. We will inform you of instructions for storm debris or extra waste on the website.
  • Service suspended – In the event of service being suspended, service will not resume till conditions are safe. We monitor the events and conditions and will accordingly update the website to let you know when we will resume service.
  • Service delayed – GFL delays service under inclement weather conditions to ensure the safety of our drivers and our customers. There may be two types of delays:
    • One-day delay: Your service will resume on the following day.
    • Multiple day delay: Your service schedule will be readjusted and possibly rescheduled for a few days later than normal service.

Preparing for Service

We rely on you to help us ensure safe and efficient conditions for our drivers to collect waste! Please be mindful of the following:

  • Ensure containers are accessible – Please ensure your trash and recycling containers are not blocked by snow piles, ice, or vehicles. Clearing a path to the curb helps our team access your containers safely.
  • Secure your bins – During high winds, please secure your containers to prevent them from becoming a hazard.

Holiday Schedule

Please note that our holiday schedule may also impact your service. In the event that your cancellation happens near a holiday, there may be a multiple-day delay to your schedule.
