Driven by dedication: Meet the unsung heroes of Columbia, SC!

At GFL, there are many unsung heroes who are dedicated to providing the best service possible for our customers. GFL’s Columbia, South Carolina, branch is no exception. This year, six of Columbia’s employees are celebrating 15 years or more working in the waste industry.

“I always get excited when we recognize the people who helped to build the foundation here in the Columbia branch. We are so lucky to have them and we value their contributions every day,” said Operations Supervisor Marie Jackson-Gilyard.

No matter which career route these employees took to reach the waste industry, they have all found a home at GFL.

For Driver Jerry Morris, working for GFL allowed him to get off the road as a long-haul driver and work closer to home, while Driver Johnnie Robinson grew a passion for the waste industry as the original company he worked for went through a series of acquisitions before eventually being acquired by GFL.

And Kenneth Joyner was working at an automotive oil change company when a customer who worked for a waste company came in and asked if anyone was interested in a career change.

These dedicated employees, together, have more than 115 years of experience in the waste industry:
