Marine Spill Containment and Treatment 

GFL has decades of experience responding to marine accidents and spills. Time is of the essence in containing and preventing the spread of hazardous materials in a marine emergency spill situation. 

Our experienced operators and technicians are standing by 24/7 to deploy our permanently stocked emergency response units. The following resources are at the ready: 

• Hazardous materials response unit 
• Ocean and containment booms, pads and absorbent media 
• Vacuum trucks, containers and transportation units 
• Marine response vessels 
• Skimming units for efficient and environmentally sound clean-up 
• Chemical transfer pumps and hoses 
• Frac tanks 
• Fire foam trailer 
• Water barges and certified divers 

Contaminated Water Treatment 

GFL has extensive experience collecting, treating and disposing of contaminated water for industrial, commercial, utilities and municipal customers. Water can be treated either onsite, through our mobile units, or at our water treatment facilities. 

We handle water from various locations where contaminated water is present, such as construction sites, building fires, overturned tractor trailers or train derailments. GFL’s onsite storage capabilities, including mobile frac tanks that range from 40,000 to 80,000 litres, help to limit customer delays and disruption. GFL will then transport the water to one of our licensed processing facilities for safe disposal. 

We can also provide you with the equipment and expertise for scheduled or unscheduled plant shutdowns, where we perform a multitude of cleaning activities and dispose of the wastewater.
