Beginning on August 2nd, the City of Richmond’s solid waste and recycling collection services provider will be changing to GFL Environmental. We at GFL are excited for the opportunity to bring world class solid waste and recycling collection services to the City of Richmond, Texas. Nothing substantial is changing with the program, however expect a more robust collection service.  We want to ensure a seamless transition, leading up to and after the new service start date on August 2nd. Below you will find some important information regarding what to expect in July as well as the changes in service beginning on August 2nd.

Waste and Recycling Information for Richmond, TX Residents


– For Residential Trash Customers –

New Poly Carts will be delivered to residents between July 19th and July 31st. Each residence will receive one (1) poly cart for normal garbage and one (1) poly cart for recycle. Attached to the poly carts you will find information about the new program including your service days for garbage, recycling, yard/green waste, and bulky waste as well as recycling program information.

Republic Services will be removing your current poly-cart and recycle bin on Thursday June 29, Friday June 30th, and Saturday June 31st.  Please place your poly-cart and recycle bin out for collection and removal during those days.  Beginning on Monday, August 2nd, please begin to use your new GFL poly-carts for garbage and recycle collection.

If you currently pay for additional poly cart(s), you will receive the additional poly cart(s) as well.

More information will follow regarding the schedule of when your old, Republic Services, poly cart and recycle bin will be removed.

– For Commercial Trash Customers –

A representative from GFL will be contacting you, or the contact person on file, regarding the change in service providers. We will be collecting important information regarding your solid waste collection service levels and schedule.  We will confirm your current container size, weekly service frequency, weekly service day schedule, and confirm all pertinent billing information. If a representative from GFL has not contacted you by July 16th, please call or email us using the contact information below.

New containers will be delivered to businesses during July 24th through July 31st. During this time period the current, Republic Services, container will be removed and replaced with a new GFL Environmental container. To ensure a seamless transition, the current container will be removed at the same time the new GFL container is delivered at your location. You can begin using your new GFL container at this time.

GFL will begin servicing the commercial containers beginning on Monday, August 2nd. We will make every effort to ensure a seamless transition and contact all customers during the time periods listed above. During this first week of the service transition, if your container is not serviced on the day(s) that you normally receive solid waste collection service, please contact us at 281.368.8397 or [email protected].
