Frequently Asked Questions

GFL is proud to service the residents of Delafield and meet your trash and recycling needs. More information on our services in your community is listed below.

Residential Trash Collections

  • Place trash cans outside no later than 6:00AM on day of collection.
  • All trash must be completely containerized/bagged under 50 pounds.
  • If trash is not out on time, return service fee is $25.

Recycling Collection

  • Place recycling bins outside no later than 6:00AM on day of collection.
  • GFL supplies one 32-gallon recycling can and lid.
  • If recycling is not out on time, return service fee is $25.

 

Accepted Recycling Materials:

  • Paper products
  • All paper/fiber products (junk mail, newspaper, magazines, phone books)
  • Clean and empty beverage cartons
  • Plastic containers
  • Metal containers
  • Aluminum containers
  • Steel and tin cans

Items NOT accepted

  • Plastic bags
  • Glass products (drinking glasses, mirrored glass)
  • Plastic items as big/ or larger than laundry basket
  • Pizza boxes

Yard Waste Collection

  • Yard waste is a subscription service.
  • Each paper bag must weigh less than 50 pounds and have a sticker.
  • You must purchase a minimum of 10 stickers at the price of $3.15/ea. ($31.50/pack). Stickers must be used in the year of purchase; no carryovers.
  • All yard waste MUST be in paper bags.

Christmas Trees Collection Program

  • Trees must be called in to be scheduled and paid for before collection, no refunds.
  • Call in before 1/15/24 to schedule for pick up for the week of 1/15/24, for $50/Tree.
  • Call in before 2/5/24 to schedule for pick up for the week of 2/5/24, for $65/Tree.
  • Trees will need to be out at the curb for collection.
  • Trees cannot be bagged, and they need to be stripped of ornaments and lights.
  • Trees need to be cut down to 5 feet or under and dug out of the snow if we have any.

Bulk Item Collection

  • Residents are allowed one free bulk item per week.
  • ALL bulk items must be called in and scheduled in advance.
  • The item will be scheduled on residents’ regular trash pickup day.
  • All items MUST be placed at the end of driveway by 6:30am.
  • Appliances or items not qualified as “bulky items” can be collected for an additional fee.
  • Residents can bring in bulk and solid waste to Hartland transfer station free of charge (this does NOT include FREON appliances and tires). Residents must show proof of residency upon arrival. Drop-off hours are on Tuesdays from 8am- 11am.
